Road targets by category

For arterials such as Fortune Drive, Columbia Street and Summit Connector, the target is bare wheel paths in one lane within four hours after the event. Collector and bus routes have a 16-hour target. Residential streets are sanded or plowed as needed within 36 hours.

Residential roads are not brought to bare pavement. Hills have priority over level streets within each category. These are service goals, not a promise that every street is simultaneously finished at the target time.

Continuing snow and City property

While snow keeps falling, crews continue on arterial routes before lower-priority roads. Use the classification and snow-clearing maps for your actual street. A street name alone may not explain the operating category.

City crews maintain municipal property such as facilities, parks, community centres, walkways and specified wheelchair ramps in downtown and Tranquille business areas. A City-owned sidewalk service does not replace the private property rule beside your home.

Private adjacent sidewalks

Owners or occupiers must maintain sidewalks beside private property. Residential snow and ice must be removed each day in a timely manner after snowfall. The source does not use a universal 24-hour residential deadline.

Other properties, including commercial premises, must clear accumulated snow and ice before 10 a.m. each day except Sunday. Keep the distinction instead of importing a nearby city’s deadline. Use the source’s service request for a City maintenance issue.
